Ideas, I'm feeling crafty

Every Thanksgiving at my parent's house, the girls work on a craft. So I've been searching blogs for some great ideas. Here are a few of my favorites for thanksgiving and a few that I want to do on my own.

I think this idea is so cute by Somewhat Simple and I really want to capture my daughter's profile because I just can't get enough of it. It's just soo adorable.  I'm not sure I'll do the glitter part but I think it'll look great anyway.

Holiday Clips from Somewhat Simple. These will be cute, as she suggests, to be used with a string to make a garland of your Christmas cards you receive.

Acorn Wreath- A friend pointed this one out from MADE. I'm not sure about using acorns for a couple of reasons 1) the acorns around here have tops and the ones she uses do not, and 2) apparently, there are maggot-y type of bugs that live in them that began to come out. yuck.  Others have used lima beans or red beans.  She then spray painted through out the year.

Or a cranberry wreath from Martha Stewart

Crayon Cozy from Creative Crate will be fun to have in a few more months...although I'm not sure I'm ready to give her crayons...maybe another year or so. :)

Peppermint Trees from BHG. Also saw this done with buttons-cute but more expensive and I can't seem to find the link for it.

Personalized Candles from the Idea Room
I better get to work...Christmas is just around the corner. :)
AND if you have any craft ideas let me know or good blogs, I'd love to take a look!

Flowers flowers flowers!!

Today I got to have a little craft morning with my friend Becky who's moving back to Utah. It makes me very sad. She was also Bekah's extremely helpful and amazing babysitter. We're going to miss her and her family!!!

Anyway, we were making flowers and she wanted the tutorial for a really cute flower that I wore once. I didn't know how to make it since I borrowed it from my sister...So, in my search for that one certain tutorial...I found a few others that I want to try.

Even though they require a needle and thread they don't sound to difficult.

I made two like this but I didn't sew them I just gathered it and hot glued it so it would have the same look...but that is also how I got my burned fingers. I really dont' like using a needle and thread when I don't have to. Just ask Victory, he's been missing a button on his suit for over a year now. :)

Not a flower but CUTE...I might have to try this!

Felt flower...finally found it!! Maybe I'll have to pull out the needle and thread because this is a cute flower!

At some point I'll upload a few more pictures...I've got a few cute ones of Bekah at the zoo and a brand new purchase. But until then, I hope you have a good one!

Cute as a Button..literally a button!

Which came first? Lately, I've been seeing items at Target that I've previously seen on blogs. Which came first the blog or the product on Target's shelves? One of those items are button earrings...well they looked very similiar to the ones I saw on a blog but I'm not sure if Target's were originally buttons or not.

I also noticed that my blog friend, NieNie wears earrings that look like something that I could totally make out of buttons. (Okay, she's not really my friend...she has no idea I exist but I feel like I know her through her blog, sad isn't? My husband would just laugh at me for saying that, I guess you could call me pathetic.) :D But that makes me think that button earrings could potentially be cool....right??
These are the first of many earrings that I'm going to be making.  I want to go a little more crazy...these are kinda grandma-ish kinda cool.
(sorry it isn't a very good picture, I took it with my phone but you get the idea)

Now, I have one more section of the craft store that I will be scowering.  ;)

Adorning Flowers

I bought little girl a new dress to wear last Sunday. My mom kept saying that it looked too big and I just told her the price tag said it was a 6-9 months. In my excitement to dress my girl up, I made her a bracelet and a super cute flowered headband to match. When I went to get her dressed I realized the dress was indeed too big. I looked at the tag and it said the size was 12 months. (Go figure. Mom was right). :)

Unfortunately, I was too determined for her to wear it so I safety pinned it. :) You can make anything fit...if you really want it too, right? I think it turned out okay, it didn't look entirely too big for a five month old.

As a completely biased mother, I think she looked adorable!! She just melts my heart! I LOVE THIS GIRL!

Here is a flower that I made for myself. I never thought I could pull off wearing a flower but I'm wearing them whether or not I'm fashionable enough to do so.

I'm fighting the urge to go buy lots of different kinds of fabrics and colors to make lots more! We'll see how long I last before I find myself wandering the craft stores. The thing I like most is burning the edges.  (I was going to use the word singe-ing but wasn't sure how to spell it...looks like sing-ing.) Never knew I was a pyro did you? Me either. :)

Someday Crafts

Somewhere during my maternity leave I was introduced to craft blogs, now I'm addicted. If anyone had mentioned craft blogs prior to this time I wouldn't have been necessarily interested. Now, I love the idea of thinking about, "what can I make? or "how can I improve this or that?" So I see all of these awesome ideas but I usually can't do them because I lack either the materials, tools, space or time and I forget about them. But here are a few of my "someday" crafts. (I know there is a blog called Someday Crafts and I thought it was perfect for me because that's what I always say....someday.)
Would have liked to have done this one for Valentine's day.

I love snowmen! But not right now, this is a craft for next year!

I think this picture is funny...poor little snowmen stuck in a jar. It's like they are saying, "Somebody, let me out, please!"

Love this...do you think it would work with only three pictures?

Now, I need to find spring ideas and get ahead of the game.

Tomorrow I'll have to post a picture of a really cute flowered headband I made for little girl to go with her sunday dress! I was so excited about it! I never knew crafting could be so much fun!!
