Hello Friends!! I've got a question for you but first here's a quick update on life with a baby.
So we've made it almost two full weeks...at home!! YAY!! We are learning to get into the swing of things. Some days I'm a bit tired and frustrated because I can't get things that I want to get done done. But other than that not too bad. The diapers aren't as bad as I thought they would be. (For those of you who don't know, I don't do diapers. I used to pay my sister a dollar a diaper when she came with me to babysit my brother's kids. That's saying something when you only got paid $3.00 for the entire evening. cheep labor. )
Okay, so we've been getting our insurance explanation of benefits for our hospital bills...which first, I must say thank heavens for insurance, but I noticed that before insurance an epidural cost nearly a thousand dollars! I started wondering to myself, because I can be too practical sometimes, if I didn't have insurance would I pay $1,000 for an epidural. Then I started to be curious what others would do in this hypothetical situation, would you pay $1,000 for an epidural?
I think that I probably would. Even if I had convinced myself to try without, I would inevitably give in and get one...I'm afraid I can't tolerate pain.
Hope you are all doing well!!

Ben and I discussed that, and we came to the conclusion that yes, we'd get the epidural. For me it would be for comfort, and for Ben it would be for his ease of mind so he'd not have to see me in pain. Knowing the pain of labor, I'd say it would be a $1,000 well spent!
I think I'd go without it, but I'm SO cheap! I've been thinking of you alot! I need to call you sometime. I think you gave me your number. I'll try to call you soon! Have a great night!
YES!!! I do wish they were less expensive but I would definitely get one. Eluding pain with little or no side effects, at least for me, well worth the money.
Shoot! That last comment was actually Becky. My bad!
I don't think I would have made it through the last two labors without one. I know that the difference from before you get one to after you get one is huge. So yes, I would be saving all my nickels and dimes for the entire nine months to get one.
I LOVED the epidural man. I woulded have paid our life savings for them.
Hey I didn't get one with Ryker and it really wasn't all that bad...but I did get it with Kaizer and had it wear off before I even started pushing with Kaizer and that is when I really needed it because he got stuck. So I would have to say I really don't think it's worth it, but I didn;t have a good experience with it. I really think it depends on the labor and how everything is going. Hope everything is going good. I think she is just perfectly adorable! Hope you are recouping well! Love ya
I say yes, Matt says no. He is thinking financially, I am thinking physically. Since I have a C-Section under my belt-literally, it is the safest thing for our future babies.
I didn't end up having an epidural with Ruth, so I personally would say no, it's not worth the money for me. However, I know everyone is different, so if it's worth the money to you, more power to ya! Glad things are going well! Happy Thanksgiving next week!
Bekah's insurance didn't pay so she did it naturally. However Bekah is a lot stronger than either of us so we would probably both pay 1,000 for an epidural. Jeff says probably.
So I just did this...we had no insurance with Ty and they told us that it would be $800 for an epidural. At first I decided that there was no way I would pay that much (cried a little bit) but my plan was to go without. Until the day before I went in...my dr. was convinced Ty was going to be too big and there would be a bunch of problems...so ace and I both decided I should get it just in case it helped me. So I did and it was fabulous and I would do it again in a second!
p.s my pumpkins I made with the sticky back craft felt, and for the things that stick out (spider legs etc)I put tooth picks on the ends.
Cute baby! And the diapers get worse when they start eating food- get ready! I wouldn't pay for it, but I had one with Theran because Brady made me and I loved it.
Yep, did for Rogan and it was worth EVERY cent. I love epidurals.
There expense suckers aren't they!! Having done it natural for #4 I'd skip it. Actually, I was planning on it this last time but #5 was a c-section. Best of luck!
So - to answer your question - I "hypnobirthed" and loved it. No pain meds, no pain. Totally relaxed - - even when Adam's big-old head got stuck! I'm totally doing that again. I'm not anti-meds, but experimented because it seemed logical and it worked! I'll do it again with this one. Believe me, if it had hurt at all, I am too much a baby to "deal with it", but again - no hurt. It was great!
I've never had an epidural, I don't like feeling out of "control" and I'm a curious sort of person so I want to know what it feels like. My labors are pretty short and to the point too so I don't know if it would even kick in in time. Also I think my hubby would faint if I got one. :0 And I'm always trying to save $$ on medical because we always have so much medical expenses. "Just add it to my tab" sort of thing. So I've always found that skipping the epidural is a way I can avoid making the debt stretch out longer than it has to. There's a lot of other things I could do with 1,000 which I would find a lot longer lasting joy from.
Three babies without it and not sure I ever will try it.
But all that said: If you like the epidural DO it again.
