I went to the Doctor today and she said
I'm 70% effaced and have dilated 1 cm.
Okay, 1 cm, that doesn't sound like a big deal, right? She then said that I was going to have this baby in a couple of weeks. WHAT???!!! FREAK OUT!! I'm not ready. You all said that I was going to my due date or even later! I'm soo not ready for this! She said she hopes I'll go at least one more week but she thinks I'll have it within two. However, after seeing my concerned look on my face, followed-up by saying, "I've been wrong before and I could be wrong again...but at least you'll be prepared."
I didn't sleep very well last night. I felt a since of panic. I'm trying to relax myself but good grief I'm getting really anxious. I'm afraid of walking too much or exerting myself to much in getting ready for our move next week. I just don't want to trigger anything. I'M NOT READY!!

That's good news! Here is some comfort.... With Brayden I was around 4cm at 36 weeks and didn't have him until the day before his due date. The farther you dialate before having contractions, the shorter your labor will be. I ended up having the doctor strip my membranes the day before he was due because I was already 6cm and wasn't having continuous contractions. Believe me....you'll hit a point where your wanting that baby out will override your anxiety, you'll be doing as much activity as possible to get her OUT! You'll do awesome!
BREATHE!!!!!! The only thing you really need to be ready for is to have two arms to hold your baby, and you have already. Just BREATHE! The baby will come when it's ready and not when the doctor or you tell it to. BREATHE!!!!
I was at 3 cm for about 2 weeks before Alexander decided to come. Good Luck!
You'll do great Alissa!! I'm so excited to see her! I think doctors like to tell us that so we'll be ready... and then eventually become impatient because it didn't happen until later... that's what always happens to me. You'll do great though!! You look cute!
Your're so close to full term already (37 weeks) that I wouldn't be concerned. You still have quite a bit more cm's to go:) I didn't get checked with Landon until I was 38 weeks but, even then I was at 2cm and the doc. said I'd probably been at that for a couple weeks. So, breath and be excited!
Randall, you are going to stress yourself into labor! :) Well with Easton I was at a 1 and not effaced at all, my Dr. said I had a while and my water broke that same week...with Ty I was at a 1 FOREVER and having PAINFUL contractions constantly and I ended up being induced...so I guess you never really know! But never fear you will do great and be sooo happy when she is out!
All these comments are SO right. You could sit at a 1 for a few days before progressing, or sit at a 4 for a month! Doctors are so silly sometimes. Of course this doesn't always ring true, but typically, 1st babies come late.
You're ready, and you're perfect. Enjoy it!!!!
Alissa, sorry I meant to write this on the names comments...we're just keeping our names quiet from family so feel free to use the names we're interested in--Katelyn or Chelsea. But who knows when the actually day comes. Good luck.
Hang in there, you'll be just fine and really all the baby needs is the two of you and diapers, LOTS of diapers. :) I was 1.5cm and 80% effaced the first week and the dr kept telling me to watch out for my water to break cause it was bursting at the seams, the following week I only went to 2 cm and this time 100% effaced but nothing happened and I had my membranes stripped twice before sophie decided to come....my water never did end up breaking on its own. Good luck with everything we can't wait to see her and see what name you guys go with, whatever name you choose it'll fit her perfectly. :) love you both!
Hey I found you! Well I can see why you're nervous. It's DELIVERY! And there's no turning back. lol. But you'll do great. Just think, every woman who is about to give birth is panicky...so congratulations, your normal! You will do so great though, so don't worry about :) Incase I don't see you at the broadcast tonight, here is my email so you can contact me if you need help packing.

Hang in there, your baby girl will be here soon!
Hey... I forgot to give you the gift receipt for your baby shower gift. And I meant to have JJ bring it when he helped you guys move, but of course I forgot. Let me know if you want it and i'll make sure to get it to you :)
You will be fine. With 3 of my 4 baby's I hit 4cm one month before my due date. Two of those three came after the due date and the third I know would have but the doctor was freaked out that he would be out of town when she came so he started me 11 days early (I could have made it those 11 days easy). When I had Spencer he came 31/2 weeks eary and I hade not one thing ready and quess what, he did just fine.
Juse take a deep breath and enjoy these last few week's. You will do great. I think laber and delivery is the best part about having a baby, if I just had to do that I would have 4 more.
I keep waiting for a post that you have had your baby! Any news yet! We are so excited for ya and can't wait to see pictures when your little one is born!
